Responsibilities:
Financial Leadership & Strategy
- Provide strategic financial direction to support company growth and profitability.
- Lead budgeting, forecasting, cash-flow modeling, and variance analysis; deliver clear narratives to support decision-making.
- Analyze trends and provide actionable insights to inform business decisions.
- Oversee day-to-day accounting functions, including AP, AR, and general ledger activities.
- Ensure accurate and timely month-end and year-end closes.
- Maintain strong internal controls and accounting policy compliance.
- Manage cash flow and liquidity to support operations and strategic initiatives.
- Oversee external audits, tax filings, and banking relationships; maintain productive rapport with auditors, advisors, and lenders.
- Monitor sales-tax, payroll-tax, and inventory-valuation compliance across nine retail locations.
- Ensure the accuracy and timeline of the general ledger, month-end close, and all financial statements in Microsoft Dynamics BC.
- Conduct variance analysis and financial reviews to identify areas for improvement.
- Coordinate with external auditors and tax preparers to ensure timely submissions and audits.
- Develop, implement, and monitor internal controls to safeguard company assets.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, tax laws, and all relevant financial regulations.
- Continuously improve financial systems, policies, and procedures.
- Manage and coach a Staff Accountant; foster a collaborative, modern finance culture grounded in our core value- Integrity, Results Matter, Inclusion, and Transparency.
- Identity talent and resource needs to build out an FP&A function; hire and mentor as approved.
What Success Looks Like in 12 Months:
- Clean Close: Books close within 5-10 business days with zero material adjustments.
- Process Wins: At least three critical back-office workflows automated or redesigned, cutting manual effort 20-30%.
- Audit Readiness: Unqualified audit opinion and streamlined PBC (Prepared-By-Client) list.
- Cash Confidence: Weekly 13-week cash-flow model adopted by leadership.
Who Thrives Here?
Must-Have Experience
- 7+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience, including multi-location retail or consumer business.
- Strong accounting knowledge; CPA highly preferred.
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft Dynamics BC (or similar mid-market ERP).
- Experience leading or supporting audits, tax compliance, and banking covenants.
- Integrity — does the right thing, always.

- Problem-solver who overcomes obstacles with data and creativity.
- Collaborative communicator who can translate "finance-speak" into clear, actionable insights.
